About the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF)
The Hispanic Scholarship Fund is the nation’s largest not-for-profit organization supporting Hispanic higher education.
Founded in 1975, HSF provides American families with the financial and educational resources they need to achieve a college education and help America be more competitive.
To date, HSF has awarded over $360 million in scholarships and has supported a broad range of outreach and education programs to help students and their families navigate collegiate life, from gaining admission and securing financial aid, to finding employment after graduation.
Our Mission
Increase the number of Hispanic college graduates by providing scholarships and assistance to students and their families.
Our Vision:
A college degree in every Latino household.
|
The Need:
The country needs more college graduates in order fill the job demands of the future. Within this decade, nearly two-thirds of jobs created will require a post-secondary education. Hispanics will account for 56% of the population growth and 74% of the labor force added. However, only 13% of Hispanics have a 4-year college degree – less than half the rate of their peers.*
If America has any chance of remaining competitive in the global economy, then we need more Americans with college degrees.
|
 |
That is why HSF is leading Generation 1st Degree, an initiative to close the Hispanic college degree gap by helping put at least one college degree in every Latino household.
Our Goals:
- Build a coalition of corporate and philanthropic partners committed to increasing Hispanic degree attainment.
- Ensure every Hispanic household in the U.S. has at least one college graduate, inspiring and mentoring others in the family and community.
- Increase Hispanic degree attainment from 19% to 60% by 2025.
|

Aligned with the Generation 1st Degree initiative, HSF is impacting students and communities by:
