Program Description

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) and the GE Hispanic Forum have partnered to provide financial resources to assist outstanding Latino college students.  Awards are in the amount of $1,500 and are available on a competitive basis.  Awardees may be invited to be mentored by a GE Hispanic Forum member

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be of Hispanic heritage 
  • Be a U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident or eligible Non-U.S. citizen
  • Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Must intend to enroll as either
    • an undergraduate Sophomore, Junior, Senior or 5th Year Senior in the 2013-2014 academic year and be pursuing first undergraduate degree
    • Or a Graduate student pursuing their Master's degree in the 2013-2014 academic year
  • Must major in one of the following: 
    • Accounting, Aeronautics/Aviation, Aerospace Engineering, Astronomy, Atmospheric Science, Business Administration, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computational Biology/Bioinformatics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cybernetics/Robotics, Economics, Electrical Engineering, Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Finance, Geography, Geology/Geosciences, Industrial Engineering/Technology, Information Technology (IT/MIS), Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Marketing, Mathematics/Statistics, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Physics, Science, Social Work/Services, Structural Engineering
  • Must have a permanent address and attend an institution in one of the following areas:
    • Arizona (state)

    • Boston, Massachusetts (metro area)
    • Chicago, Illinois (metro area)
    • Cincinnati, Ohio (metro area)
    • Dallas, Texas (metro area)
    • Denver, Colorado (metro area)

    • Fairfield County, Connecticut (metro area)
    • Greenville, South Carolina (metro area)
    • Hartford, Connecticut (metro area)
    • Houston, Texas (metro area)
    • Jacksonville, Florida (metro area)
    • Kansas City, Missouri (metro area)
    • Los Angeles, California (metro area)
    • Louisville, Kentucky (metro area)
    • Miami, Florida (metro area)
    • Milwaukee, Wisconsin (metro area)
    • New Mexico (state)
    • Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (metro area-includes Southern New Jersey)
    • San Francisco, California (metro area)
    • Seattle, Washington (metro area)
    • Puerto Rico
    • Schenectady, New York (metro area)
    • Twin Cities, Minnesota (metro area)
    • Tampa Bay, Florida (metro area)
    • Wilmington, North Carolina (metro area)
  • Have plans to enroll FULL-TIME at a four-year U.S. accredited college or university in the geographic locations listed above during the 2013-2014 academic year. 
  • Must plan to apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in 2013
