Juan Galarraga is currently the Senior Vice President of Stores, Target Corporation, overseeing the total operations of 450 plus Target stores in the Midwest, North and Northwest Region. He leads a large P&L portfolio and has full ownership of business and team results, as well as influencing company strategy. His territory consists of over 70,000 team members. Previously, Mr. Galarraga was the Vice President of Stores Supply Chain where he supported the processes and new initiatives for Target stores across the company, as well as leading the organization through various multichannel programs to meet the guests’ growing demands and expectations.
Mr. Galarraga has also held multiple senior leadership positions across operations and stores in his 15 years with Target, such as the Vice President for Healthcare and Store Compliance, supporting processes, technology, supply chain and new initiatives for more than 1,600 pharmacies and clinics across the country, as well as the Group Vice President in Florida where he was responsible for over $2 billion in annual sales and led more than 10,000 team members.
In addition, he serves as the executive sponsor for the Hispanic Business Counsel and plays an active role in helping the company define strategies to hire, retain and develop future Hispanic leaders, as well as making a positive impact in the community and business place.
Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Mr. Galarraga currently resides in Plymouth, Minnesota with his wife, Alejandra and two children, Daniel (9) and Viviana (7). As someone who moved from Venezuela to the United States at the age of 18, in pursuit of a dream, he realized quickly that if it had not been for the solid foundation of a good education system, the values his parents instilled in him and the many leaders/mentors that guided and pushed him along the way, he would never be where he is today.
Mr. Galarraga believes it is now his time to pay it forward. Over the past several years, he has been fortunate to do that within Target, helping other young Hispanic leaders succeed and now looking ahead, he is eager to do it on a broader scale. His goal and dream was never to be where he is at today, but most importantly, to make his family proud. Through his partnership with Hispanic Scholarship Fund, he hopes to help others do the same.
As someone that moved from Venezuela to the US at the age of 18, in pursuit of a dream, I realized quickly that if it had not been for the solid foundation of a good education system, the values that my parents instilled in me and the many leaders/mentors that guided and pushed me along the way, I would never be where I am today... Now it’s my time to pay that forward. Over the past several years I’ve been blessed to be able to do that within Target, helping other young Hispanic leaders succeed. Now it’s time for me to do that on broader scale. My goal and dream was never to be where I’m at today, but to make my family proud. I’m hoping I can help others to do the same. I can’t think of a better organization to do that with than the HSF.
