Nancy was born and raised in El Paso, Texas and attended Colorado College where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy in 1996. After working in various Denver nonprofits, including the Gill Foundation, Clinica Tepeyac and the Colorado Parent Information and Resource Center, she went on to earn a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management at Regis University. Nancy has volunteered extensively throughout Denver and served as an Advisory Board member and mentor with the Public Interest Fellowship Program (PIFP) at Colorado College. Nancy is a Retention Manager with the Hispanic Scholarship Fund where she provides retention support for the Peierls Rising Star Scholarship and the Achievement Scholarship. She also provides bilingual outreach on higher education to Latino families through schools and community organizations. She is a doctoral student at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in the School of Education’s Educational Leadership, Research and Policy program. Nancy loves her work because she believes education is transformative, and she wants more students across the U.S. to take advantage of it.
I love my job with HSF! I cannot imagine doing anything that is more meaningful or as much fun as helping students achieve their college dreams! I know education made a huge difference in my life and I look forward to seeing what it does for all the students and families I get to work with!
