Gates Millennium Scholarship Recipient
Christina’s involvement with the Hispanic Scholarship Fund began during her tenure as the Administrative Vice-President for the Hispanic Business Student Association (HBSA) on campus. Vasquez believes in HSF’s commitment in enabling a college degree in every Latino household and looks for every opportunity possible to be of aid or impact the futures of other Hispanics. “I am forever grateful to HSF for its support and seek every opportunity to “pay it forward.” During her involvement with HSF, Vasquez became a recipient of the Gates Millennium Scholarship in which the fund helped her in paying for school. “HSF had a tremendous impact on fueling financial and educational support, which enabled me to focus on my academic studies. Through HSF’s contributions, I was able to realize my educational goals, and graduated from UT-Austin with high honors in 2002. I have since completed the International MBA program at the Florida International University in Miami, Florida in 2006.” As an alumnus of HSF, Christina feels that it is important to remain in contact with the fund. She believes that it is more impactful when students meet and interact with alumni as they can see success stories first hand and how the fund has contributed to that individual’s personal journey.
