HSF/Marathon Oil Scholarship

Description

The HSF/Marathon Oil College Scholarship Program is a scholarship of up to $15,000 for the 2014-2015 academic year.  Selected students may receive up to $15,000 for two academic years (2014-2015, 2015-2016) for a possible total of $30,000.

In addition, scholars may be offered the opportunity to participate in a possible paid 8-10 week summer 2014 internship at various Marathon Oil Corporation locations.  Scholars will be paired with a Marathon Oil Corporation employee who will serve as a professional mentor.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be of Hispanic American, African American, Asian Pacific Islander American, or American Indian/Alaskan Native heritage.
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired) or be granted Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)
  • Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.
  • Be a current Sophomore in 2013-2014 majoring in one of the following:
    • Accounting
    • Chemical Engineering
    • Computer Engineering
    • Computer Science
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Environmental Engineering
    • Geology/Geosciences
    • Information Technology (IT/MIS)
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Petroleum Engineering

- OR -

  • Be a current Senior in 2013-2014 planning to enroll in a Master's degree program in 2014-2015 majoring in one of the folling:
    • Geology/Geosciences
    • Petroleum Engineering
  • Must submit a resume with your application
  • Must apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). DACA applicants must submit household income information.
