VERIZON FOUNDATION CONTRIBUTES $200,000
TO HSF SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
This grant will make college a reality for Hispanic students
San Francisco, Ca August 2008- The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF), the nation’s preeminent organization supporting Hispanic higher education, announced that it has received a $200,000 grant from the Verizon Foundation. This contribution will support the HSF/Verizon Foundation High School and College Scholarship Programs.
The HSF/Verizon Foundation High School Scholarship Program funds exceptional graduating high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year university. The HSF/Verizon Foundation College Scholarship Program assists outstanding Latino college students during their college career. Programs like the HSF/Verizon Foundation High School and College Scholarship Programs help diminish the financial pressures these students face.

The Verizon Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Verizon Communications, is committed to improving literacy and K-12 education; fostering awareness and prevention of domestic violence; and promoting the use of technology in health-care delivery. In 2006, the Verizon Foundation awarded more than $69 million in grants to nonprofit agencies in the United States and abroad.
