Program Description

Available to high school seniors who plan to enroll at The University of Texas at Austin in the Fall 2010.  Students must graduate in 2010 from one of the following High Schools: Harlingen, Harlingen South, Rio Hondo, San Benito, Los Fresnos, Gladys Porter, Simon Rivera, James Pace, Homer Hanna, Lopez, John H. Reagan, Sidney Lanier, William B. Travis. 

Students must demonstrate financial need with priority given to students who are Pell grant eligible. This is a $2,500 per year award for three years to be initially disbursed in Fall 2010.

Eligibility Requirements

• Be of Hispanic heritage.
• Be a U.S. Citizen or a legal permanent resident with permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired).
• Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.
• Graduate in 2010 from one of the following High Schools: Harlingen, Harlingen South, Rio Hondo, San Benito, Los Fresnos, Gladys Porter, Simon Rivera, James Pace, Homer Hanna, Lopez, John H. Reagan, Sidney Lanier, William B. Travis
• Plan to enroll FULL-TIME at the University of Texas at Austin during the 2010-2011 academic year.
• Must apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
• Students must demonstrate financial need with priority given to students who are Pell grant eligible
