2009 HSF Alumni Hall of Fame

The Eighth Annual Alumni Hall of Fame Gala was held on September 30, 2009 at The Pierre New York. Over 300 guests partook in an inspirational evening which honored HSF's newest group of inductees.

 
Honorees included:

Carmen Baez, President, DAS Latin America, Omnicom Group
Edgar Figueroa, Executive Director, The Wi-Fi Alliance
Dr. Sandra Hernandez, CEO, The San Francisco Foundation
Edgar Sandoval, General Manager, North American Marketing, Procter & Gamble

In addition to our five outstanding honorees, HSF also bestowed our first corporate honoree award to Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. for the company's long-standing commitment to the Latino community through several educational and career development programs.

Chairman and CEO, Lloyd C. Blankfein, accepted the award on the firm's behalf after a touching introduction and speech by Zaily Valloy. Valloy was recently selected as an HSF scholar through its partnership with Goldman Sachs and the 10,000 Women Program which aims to provide business and management education to women around the world.

For the first time in gala history, HSF conducted an on-site scholarship fundraiser that raised an additional $20,000 for scholarships.

Other exciting moments included Edgar Sandoval's announcement on behalf of Procter & Gamble of its $1.5 million commitment to HSF. Overall, the evening was bursting with touching words about the value, beyond dollars, that comes with receiving an HSF scholarship.

Special thanks to Carmen Wong Ulrich, our remarkable Emcee at this ceremony. Carmen is NBC’s personal finance expert, had her own show on CNBC, has authored books, and is a regular contributor on topics of personal finance to various publications.
