INTERNSHIPS

An internship is a temporary work assignment that emphasizes on-the-job training.  The purpose is to provide an opportunity to gain experience in a particular field under the guidance of a mentor.  The work is usually introductory in nature and can be paid or unpaid.  Internships vary from full-time or part-time and usually last for several weeks.  Internships can help students test their interest in a particular career path and establish a network of contacts.
