Tips

  1. Add Scholarshipdept@hsf.net to your safe list to be sure you receive emails concerning your application.  
  2. Essays are reviewed closely in the scholarship selection process.  Proofread your essay carefully.  You may want to have a member of your family, teacher, or professor review your essay to ensure that it answers the question.
  3. Find someone to complete the electronic Recommendation Form. They need as much time as possible to complete the form.  Be sure to ask them prior to submitting their information to us.  By doing this, it will ensure that:
    • you are in direct communication with your recommender;
    • they agree to do the recommendation for you; and that
    • you have their correct email address to provide to us.
  4. Once you click on the Legal Agreement within your the application, you will not be able to make changes to your essays any more. 
  5. Make sure you have gone through all sections of the application!  Double check your answers correlate to the questions being asked.
  6. After you complete the application, you can keep track of your supporting documents and application status by logging into your online account.
  7. Some scholarship programs have different deadlines. Keep track of the deadlines for all programs you create applications for.
  8. Finish your application as early as possible. Don't wait until the last minute!
