Dr. Frank D. Sanchez (HSF '89-93), was named Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs for the City University of New York System. He will assume this position in January 2011. As CUNY’s Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Dr. Sanchez will provide system-wide leadership in the development, organization, coordination, delivery and evaluation of a comprehensive, student-centered university culture that supports the personal, social and academic development of all students.
Dr. Sanchez currently serves as Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at the University of Colorado at Denver. Throughout his career in higher education Dr. Sanchez has promoted programs, policies and services that foster student learning, development and academic success while partnering with academic colleagues.
Stephanie Bravo (HSF '09), co-founded and is the President of StudentMentor.org. This is a nonprofit organization that matches college students with professionals nationwide, and was recently featured on CNN and the front page of Fortune.
StudentMentor.org allows professionals to sign up as Mentors to help up-and-coming college students, and students sign up as Mentees to get insights into the field of their choice.
Joyce Luhrs (HSF '83-87), was named to the League of Women Voters of Northern Valley’s board of directors for a two-year term at the organization’s annual meeting. The board of directors also elected her to the position of co-vice president to be served during 2010-2011.
Earlier this year, she joined the board of directors of a local arts organization and actively promoted the group’s Meet & Greet the Artists and membership recruitment efforts. When not serving on boards of directors, she is busy as president of Luhrs & Associates, a marketing, public relations and management firm.
Silvestre Vallejo (HSF '02-03), currently serves as the Program Director for The Posse Foundation in Los Angeles. The Posse Foundation identifies, recruits, and trains youth leaders from urban public high schools and sends them in Posses (teams) to top colleges and universities across the country with four-year, full-tuition scholarships.
