HSF is hosting College 101 sessions presented by FedEx aimed at providing high school students and their parents valuable information about the importance of a college education. Presentations and materials will be given in Spanish and English on the following topics:
- Preparing and paying for college
- Applying for scholarships
- Researching financial aid
Managing Partner, North Cove Partners
Mr. Angel L. Morales (39) serves as Managing Partner of North Cove Partners. Mr. Morales co-founded North Cove Partners in 2011 and focuses on its investment portfolio in the industrial, financial services and business services sectors. He served as Managing Director and co-Head of BAML Capital Partners, the internal private equity group of Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He joined Merrill Lynch’s Global Private Equity group (MLGPE) in 1996 as a member of the founding team. He has worked with early-stage businesses, middle-market companies as well as Fortune 500 firms in the United States and abroad. Mr. Morales was responsible for ten transactions during his career at Bank of America Merrill Lynch that generated a total profit of $1.3 billion and an Internal Rate of Return of 21%.
Mr. Morales currently serves as a Director and Audit Committee Chair of Aeolus Re, a global property catastrophe reinsurance company based in Bermuda. Mr. Morales served as a Director and Executive Committee member of The Hertz Corporation from 2010 to 2013. Hertz is a leading global car and equipment rental company that is publicly traded in the U.S. with a market capitalization over $12 billion. He also served as a Director and Strategic and Nomination Committee member of Rexel S.A. from 2011 to 2013. Rexel is a leading global electrical equipment distributor that is publicly traded in France with a market capitalization over $7 billion.
Mr. Morales previously served on a number of other Boards of Directors including: (i) Nuveen, a leading asset manager with more than $200 billion of Assets Under Management; (ii) National Powersport Auctions, a middle-market auctioneer of motorcycles and other powersports; (iii) Definity Health Corporation, the pioneer in consumer-driven healthcare benefit programs and a firm that was sold to UnitedHealth; and (iv) Sentillion, a leading healthcare information technology company that was sold to Microsoft.
Mr. Morales served on the Board and Finance Committee of the Bronx Preparatory Charter School and is active with Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) and the Oliver Scholars Program in New York. He ran a men’s mentoring program for the Children’s Storefront School in Harlem, New York and founded a church-based scholarship for underprivileged students in New York City.
Mr. Morales holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and BA in Economics from Harvard University. He lives on the Upper West Side of Manhattan with his wife Cassey, his daughter Gabriela (4) and his son Daniel (3).

Managing Director, Big Apple District
Nanette (Nan) Malebranche is Managing Director, Big Apple District for FedEx Express. She oversees FedEx Express operations throughout New York City; Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and the Bronx. Nan is responsible for nearly 1,700 employees and the transportation and delivery of more than 180,000 shipments daily. She also chairs the local Market Council, responsible for strategic planning, analysis and sales development across all FedEx operating companies throughout New York City.
A 28-year veteran of the transportation and logistics industry, Nan was vice-president of Island Courier prior to joining FedEx in 1987. She is a four-time winner of the FedEx CEO Five Star Award for top performance. Nan has been honored with the annual “Women of Distinction” award from the March of Dimes and sits on the boards of the Hispanic Counseling Center and Junior Achievement of New York. She is also an active member of the following local organizations: American Cancer Society, Safe Kids Walk this Way and United Way.
Nan has been featured as a Keynote Speaker for the Long Island Center for Business and Professional Women and for Dowling College Townsend Graduate School of Business. She has also appeared on CNBC, FOX Business, 20/20 and Bloomberg Television.
Raised in Queens, NY, Nan now lives with her family in Bellmore, NY. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Adelphi University.
