THE HISPANIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND TO BRING JOBS AND EDUCATION OPPORTUNITES
 TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

With support from Toyota, HSF will move its headquarters to Los Angeles this fall

LOS ANGELES (May 14, 2012) — The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF), the leading provider of college scholarships to Hispanics across the country, will move its national headquarters to Southern California  this fall  it was announced by HSF President and CEO Frank Alvarez.

The new HSF office will be located in Gardena, where office space was generously discounted by Toyota to help defray overhead costs.  Toyota’s donation will save HSF an estimated $5 million over the ensuing ten years.   HSF expects to be fully operational in their new offices by October.

“Our board considered several Hispanic cities before deciding to make this strategic move to the nation’s largest Latino market,” said Alvarez.  “Los Angeles is the epicenter of all things Latino and having more immediate access to a large professional workforce, to media and corporate support will greatly benefit our mission to help at least one member of every Latino family in the U.S. to achieve a college education.  We want to thank Toyota for their ongoing support of HSF and particularly for their generous donation of this office space.”

Since it was established in 1975, HSF has been based in the San Francisco Bay area and has awarded over $360 million to over 53000 Hispanic college students across the United States.  Over this same time period, HSF has awarded over $57 million to 8,200 Southern California Latinos, making the region the highest recipient of HSF scholarships.

“On behalf of Toyota Motor Sales USA, Inc. (TMS), I’d like to be among the first to welcome HSF to Los Angeles,” said Anthony Salcido, Vice President, North American Financial Integration of Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. “Having HSF staff located here will help support its mission to make higher education available and accessible to every Hispanic household in Los Angeles and around the country.”

Toyota will hold an open house in the fall to welcome HSF staff to their new offices.  More details will be announced in a separate press release.  The new HSF address will be:  1411 West 190th Street, Gardena, CA  90248.
